Tasting notes

Dark, garnet color. Tobacco, dark berries, clove, leather, semi-sweet cocoa powder and a nice hint of vanilla with a bit of black licorice. Gorgeous, soft entry with flavors of dark berries, cinnamon, clove, cocoa powder and sweet vanilla. Supple and full bodied with a balanced, nicely structured and long finish.

Production notes

The Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from The Sagemoor Farms Vineyard in the Columbia Valley AVA and the Syrah was sourced from Les Gosses vineyard on Red Mountain.  The must was pumped over for 8 days and pressed to tank, where it underwent malo-lactic fermentation. The wine was fermented to dryness on 100 % American Oak and aged on 100% French oak. It was 100% barrel aged for 8 months.

Other notes

Harvest notes: Heat, heat and more heat! That was 2015. A warm, dry Spring led to a hot, dry summer. Heat remained for the first part of harvest and grapes came in early. The hottest year on record. Ripe flavors and the Brix that go with it were no problem this vintage and it was a very fast, short growing season. One problem for wine makers was the early ripening of all varieties which made it challenging for harvesting grapes at their optimum, however the wines have been delicious. The 2015 harvest resulted in the earliest picking date ever of red grapes for Hedges on Red Mountain.
