2006 Single Vineyard Limited Merlot
Tasting notes
Garnet/purple color. Cherry, black cherry and plummy fruit aromas beautifully balanced by slight smoke and sweet vanilla spicy oak with an herbal/ floral note. Full bodied with ripe cherry and plum fruit and slight spice and toasted oak flavors. Good acidity and nice structure with a long fruit driven finish.
Production notes
Grapes are from Red Mountain Vineyard picked the third week of September. Aged 12 months in 67% French and 33% American Oak. 100% new oak.
Other notes
Harvest Notes: 2006 was a great year in the vineyards. Mostly even temperatures and little wind and rain during bloom made for nice set. The summer was hot, but not too hot, and typical fall ripening conditions of warm days (80-85) and cool nights (45-50) began in mid-September and continued through October. Our philosophy of picking at optimum flavor maturity saw us picking Malbec the first week of October. Another great vintage from Red Mountain.
