2006 Single Vineyard Limited Syrah
Tasting notes
Deep black cherry color. Beautiful, intense sweet dried blueberry and blackberry almost juicy smelling. Interesting floral notes of violets, lavender and geranium. Slightly toasty and hints of vanilla and cinnamon spice from the oak. Full bodied with juicy, sweet dark fruit and toast in the mouth with hints of spice. This is a fruit driven Syrah, with high intensity aromatics and wonderful juicy flavors with vibrant acidity and firm tannins finishing long and satisfying.
Production notes
Grapes are from Hedges Estate High Density Vineyard. Aged 11 months in new 50% American and 50% French Oak.
Other notes
Harvest Notes: 2006 was a great year in the vineyards. Mostly even temperatures and little wind and rain during bloom made for nice set. The summer was hot, but not too hot, and typical fall ripening conditions of warm days (80-85) and cool nights (45-50) began in mid-September and continued through October. Our philosophy of picking at optimum flavor maturity saw us picking this Syrah the third week of September. Another great vintage from Red Mountain.
