2021 DLD Le Rosé
Tasting notes
Gorgeous light peach color with aromas of white strawberry, peach and a bit of tropical fruit medley mixed with white pepper, allspice, and a touch of citrus peel. Light acidity and body with flavors of strawberry, honeydew, and a touch of spice.
Cellaring:
For optimum fruit flavors and aromas, drink now. The higher acid in this wine should keep it drinking well for up to a few years.
Production notes
Grapes are from Les Gosses and Strawberry Hill vineyards. The Syrah was crushed and pressed on 8/25/22 and the Grenache, Mourvedre and Counoise were crush and press on 9/3/22 the grapes were co-fermented at a low temperature until it reached dryness on 10/9. The wine was lightly lees stirred during its short aging period before bottling in January.
Other notes
Harvest notes: 2021 was a warm and dry growing season. We saw an impressive amount of heat at the end of June, with Red Mountain hitting 118 degrees and staying above 100 for most of June and July. Our vineyard team was on top of irrigation every step of the way and although this dry, warm year left us with lower yields the vintage overall is showing nicely.
