2020 CMS Red
Double Gold 95 Pts Sunset International Wine Awards
Tasting notes
Light red fruits, red licorice, cinnamon, cocoa, orange peel, crushed gravel, and savory dried herbs. Medium body, flavors of cherry, cinnamon, dried herbs, and a touch of toast and vanilla. This wine is delicious, well rounded, and sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Cellaring:
The structure of this wine means it will be best within a few years of release but should be wonderful to drink for the next 5 year.
Production notes
Grapes come from the Columbia Valley vineyards, Wooded Island, Bacchus and Sagemoor, and the Red Mountain Vineyards of Hedges, Bel’ Villa, Jolet, Les Gosses and Magdalena. Most of the wines were pumped over during alcoholic fermentation for 6 to 10 days while on American Oak. About 40% of the wine was racked to barrel where it completed malo-lactic fermentation and then aged for an additional 15-18 months. The other 60% completed M-L in tank, at the end of which it was racked onto French Oak and had SO2 added. About 60% French oak /40% American oak.

Harvest notes:
2020 was a warm growing season and while it was nowhere near the hot vintage of 2015, we did see some drier conditions. The dry warm year coupled with lower yields left us with a crop that was earlier to mature. 2020 had many uncertainties, but from what we have seen of this vintage, the resulting wines are aromatically intense with structure.
