2007 SINGLE VINEYARD LIMITED MERLOT
Tasting notes
Dark color. Soft, round opulent aromas of ripe black cherries and plums enveloped in toasted oak, vanilla, white pepper and spiced, smoked meats. Concentrated ripe, sweet berry and plum flavors, toasted oak, a bit of earthiness and pepper on the palate. Nice lush mouthfeel, but with a touch of acid and a long, soft but well structured finish.
Production notes
Grapes are from Red Mountain Vineyard blocks F, G and H. The grapes were fermented in stainless then pressed to barrel, where they completed alcoholic and malo-lactic fermentations. The wine was then 100% barrel aged about 12 months in 100% new oak consisting of 50% American, 25% Hungarian and 25 % French.
Other notes
Harvest Notes: 2007 was another great vintage in Washington State and the wines from Hedges reflect this with another in a recent series of outstanding wines. Mostly even temperatures and little wind and rain during bloom made for nice set. The summer was hot, but not too hot, and typical fall ripening conditions of warm days (80-85) and cool nights (45-50) began in mid-September and continued through October.
