2022 DLD Le Rosé
Tasting notes
Very light rose petal color. Wild strawberry, cantaloupe, papaya, crushed pineapple, citrus peel and a hint of marzipan. Light on the palate with lively acid and hints of tropical fruit flavors.
Cellaring: For optimum fruit flavors and aromas, drink now. The higher acid in this wine should keep it drinking well for up to a few years.
Production notes
Grapes are from Les Gosses and Strawberry Hill vineyards. All the grapes were harvested, crushed and pressed on 9/21/2022 and the co-fermented at a low temperature until it reached dryness on 10/31. The wine was lightly lees stirred during its short aging period before bottling in January.
Other notes
Harvest notes: 2022 was a challenging year from Spring through Fall! We had snow in April and didn’t see warm temperatures until early May. The heat was mild until we hit mid-August and saw temperatures over 100 for a couple of weeks! Everything was delayed including bud break, fruit set and veraison and we had a few extra weekends in September due to a late first day of harvest! All of the challenges were worth it and we saw a bountiful and delicious crop. The crew worked until just before Thanksgiving and we managed to get all of our fruit in before the cold weather set in. The 2022 vintage made us really earn the fruits of our labor and we are starting to enjoy them.
