Production notes
Sarah and Brent Goedhart began this passion project in 2006. They are Syrah fanatics and tasted all over the world before creating this special wine. With a focus on elegance, terroir and minimal input winemaking, this Syrah is an ode to their many travels to France while allowing the Red Mountain terroir to shine. Grapes are from Bel’ Villa Vineyard. The early pick of this block was harvested on 9/2 and the later pick was harvested on 9/9. The wine was destemmed and partially crushed into stainless steel bins where it was punched down three times per day until desired tannin extraction was achieved. It was then pressed to barrels where it underwent malo-lactic fermentation, then racked off lees and 100% barrel aged for18 months in 47% new oak. 67% American oak and 33% French oak.
Other notes
Cellaring: This wine is a little tight now, but like other Red Mountain wines, should age well, probably peaking in 10 years, but still be very drinkable at 15 years old.
