Aroma / flavor: Lemon custard / orange blossom / early apricot / quince paste / brioche
Texture: tart / oily / bright / round
Cellaring: For optimum fruit flavors and aromas, drink now. The higher acid in this wine should keep it drinking well for up to 15 years.
Grapes are Les Gosses vineyard. The Viognier was picked on 10/7 and the Marsanne was picked on 9/30, and was pressed to both new and neutral barrels. The Marsanne barrels went through malo-lactic fermentation while stirring lees every three days for 2 weeks. The wine was aged in 14% new French oak, 6% new Hungarian oak and 80% Neutral oak until bottling.
Harvest notes: 2024 started off with a hard freeze in mid-January with highs in the single digits for a few days. The vines are resilient and we didn’t see too much bud damage. Spring to fall was fairly normal, but we did see a bit more humidity than we are used to in our desert climate. Temperatures began to cool as harvest started and we saw some nice ripening days throughout September and October.
