Tasting notes
Aroma / flavor: black cherry / anise / cola / dried oregano / tobacco / wet earth /
Texture: light / fruity / soft / spicy
Production notes
Grapes are from Les Gosses Vineyard, which is in the Red Mountain AVA. The wine was destemmed and partially crushed into oak fermenters, where it was allowed to undergo indigenous fermentation. It was then pressed to barrels where it underwent indigenous malo-lactic fermentation, then racked off lees and 100% barrel aged in neutral barrel until bottling.
Other notes
Harvest notes: 2024 started off with a hard freeze in mid-January with highs in the single digits for a few days. The vines are resilient and we didn’t see too much bud damage. Spring to fall was fairly normal, but we did see a bit more humidity than we are used to in our desert climate. Temperatures began to cool as harvest started and we saw some nice ripening days throughout September and October.
Cellaring: This wine is a little tight now, but like other Red Mountain wines, should age well, probably peaking in 10 years, but still be very drinkable at 15 years old.
