*RES* 2007 Red Mountain Blend
Tasting notes
Dark purple-black color. Dark, concentrated fruit: black cherry, blackberry and cassis. The fruit is seamlessly integrated with oak aromas of toast, clove spice, cola, licorice and hints of smoke, earth, meat and caramel. Dark fruit flavors, almost full body, wonderfully spicy, toasty, cola and smoked meat oak notes with plenty of structure and a long, slightly earthy finish and nice, lively acid.
Production notes
Grapes are from Red Mountain AVA vineyards within a 2 mile radius of the winery: Hedges, Bel’ Villa, Red Mountain (and Obelisco, which is not claimed on the label). This wine is 100% barrel aged for an average of 10 months in 50% new oak consisting of 70% American, 25% French and 5 % European.
Other notes
Harvest Notes: 2007 was another great vintage in Washington State and the wines from Hedges reflect this with another in a recent series of outstanding wines. Mostly even temperatures and little wind and rain during bloom made for nice set. The summer was hot, but not too hot, and typical fall ripening conditions of warm days (80-85) and cool nights (45-50) began in mid-September and continued through October.
